Notice something a little different? The team at the Colac Bowling Club have been busy behind the scenes working on our new website!
So why the change? We love our little location by the lake here in Colac, and as the world changes around us, and we start to see more visitors to the club and more of our community becoming members, we thought it was time to update and refresh our look. The club has been slowly undergoing renovations over the years, starting with major extensions to the kitchen and dining room in 1992, and then to the members lounge in 2004.
In 2007 we extended the ladies locker room, and in 2017, we oversaw our first major internal refurbishment which included the bars and upgraded function spaces our patrons use today, as well as the offices used by our staff.
A new website just adds to the work we’ve been doing on the club over the years.
You may have also noticed we have a new logo that has launched with our new website. While we’ve retained the feel and general look of the logo you know and love, we’ve updated and modernised it to go along with our new website.
The team here at Colac Bowling Club have also been doing a lot to attract new members to our club in recent years. We are a small community, and our club has become a meeting place for many of our residents - it’s the place we go to for a snack and a couple of quiet drinks, or to catch up over a game of bowls. Our “Barefoot Bowls” sessions have been popular, and we have seen a number of new members looking to try their hand at bowling in our Pennant competitions.
Another initiative we have put in place is a “learn to bowl” session. The club provides bowls to newcomers and can set up individual training sessions with some of our senior club members, as well as organising group coaching – great for friends looking for something new to do, or as part of your next corporate event.
History of the Colac Bowling Club
We've been in Coles since 1897 – the same year Essendon won the very first VFL premiership, and the first ship being accepted into Fremantle harbour. While the club has changed a lot since then, including two relocations and extensions and a refurbishment, the one thing that hasn't changed is our friendly customer service and our welcoming atmosphere.
We started life in Market Square and now live here on Lake Colac; we’re often told by our community that we have one of the best locations in Colac and that they love coming down for a drink, a chat with mates and watching the activity on the lake.
Venue & Function Facilities
The Colac Bowling Club is a great option for your next birthday party celebration, corporate event or wedding. We have two large function venues – our function room that holds up to 120 people, and our member lounge that can cater for up to 360 people.
The best thing about holding your function at the Colac Bowling Club? We’re right on Lake Colac, so you’ll get some beautiful views that offer the perfect backdrop for any event. Our recent renovations to our club also included upgrading our audio and visual equipment which gives you the option to add that something extra to your event.
Our function team will work with you to create the perfect event, ensuring the room is set up to your requirements as well as ensuring the day, or night, runs as smoothly as possible. Someone will always be on hand should you need assistance throughout your event.

Been thinking about joining our little club on the lake? We love having new members join us, so we’ve made our memberships accessible to everyone, with our free community membership; our social membership starting from $15/year; our full membership, that grants you full playing rights, starts at $135/year. There are plenty of benefits to joining including our weekly membership draw, discounted venue hire, and for full members, being able to bowl in pennant and enter competitions throughout the year.
